What to do with kids in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

May 22, 2018

The INCREDIBLE Batu Caves! And make your own Batik fabric.

We started out at Batu caves and then ended by making Batik fabric. Batu, batik, Batu, batik, say it five times fast. In between the tongue twister was a scrumptious meal of dumplings.

While we were in Kuala Lumpur, Marisa's brother was visiting on business so we were able to meet with him. We visited the Batu Caves just outside of Kuala Lumpur. They are huge limestone caves that are now Hindu shrines. The view of the steps was breathtaking. Walking the 272 steps to the top was even more breathtaking.

We visited Din Tai Fung for dinner. Our friend Ian showed us the ropes. Michael has wanted to try their soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) for a long time and they didn't disappoint.

The next day, Marisa, Maya, and Madelyn try their hand at painting Batik Fabric. Wax patterns are painted in the fabric and then when they are painted with dye.
