We are staying in the Monterey Bay area. It is beautiful and there are so many amazing things to see here. After going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium we decided to go to Santa Cruz, famous for its surfing, skateboards, vampires, and the boardwalk.
Just a word of advice, when you go to the boardwalk in the winter, call ahead to see if it is open. All of the rides were closed and it was pretty dead when we went. It was still cool to see the amusement park that was featured in the movie “The Lost Boys.”
After the boardwalk we decided to go see some whale bones at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. The blue whale skeleton is 87 feet long. To put that in perspective if you took one foot and then laid it out 87 times you would have 87 feet. Mason looks like a mere 10 year old boy when compared to the huge skeleton.
Our last stop of the day was Natural Bridge State Beach. I’m not an expert but I believe that it’s name comes from the natural bridge that has formed in the rocks from the constant erosion that made a natural bridge in the surrounding rock. Or maybe it is named after the famous explorer Natural Bridge. Either way, the beach was cool and the views were amazing. We are really starting to fall in love with this part of the country.
